Belval Blast Furnaces

Giant steelworks furnaces at the heart of a new university district.

Esch-sur-Alzette grew rich on iron and steel. At Belval, two blast furnaces of the former steelworks were preserved when the site was turned into a new district with the University of Luxembourg and the Rockhal concert hall. You can climb one of the furnaces for a view over the old industrial south, the 'Land of the Red Rocks'.
