Upper Sûre Lake and Esch-sur-Sûre

Luxembourg's big reservoir lake and a village wrapped in a river loop.

The Upper Sûre lake, created by a dam, is the country's main drinking-water reservoir and a summer favourite for swimming, kayaking and boat trips. It lies in the Upper Sûre Nature Park, with hiking trails along the shore. Nearby, the village of Esch-sur-Sûre sits in a tight loop of the river beneath its castle ruin.
