Vianden Castle

One of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine, high above the Our valley.

Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, the castle fell into ruin and was restored after the state took it over in 1977. Today its halls and chapel are open to visitors. The little town below has a chairlift with views over the castle, and the house where Victor Hugo stayed in 1871 is now a museum.

💡 Combine the castle with the chairlift and a walk along the Our.
